About Chronic Disease

There is more than one type of disease in the world. First there is Infectious and contagious disease and then there is Chronic Disease. They are not the same and have different causes.

Disease Definition:  A disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.

Infectious Disease Definition: Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms - such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. Many organisms live in and on our bodies. They're normally harmless or even helpful, but under certain conditions, some organisms may cause disease. Some infectious diseases can be passed from person to person.

Communicable Disease Definition: A disease that is transmitted through direct contact with an infected individual or indirectly through a vector. Also called contagious disease .

Chronic Disease Definition: A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more, by the definition of the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics. Chronic diseases generally cannot be prevented by vaccines or cured by medication, nor do they just disappear.

This website is based entirely about chronic disease. Prior to the establishment of Functional Health and Medicine, chronic disease was treated by your conventional medical doctor. Today that is no longer the case. While your conventional doctor is still treating chronic disease at this time it demands a different approach and is no longer the domain of the conventional medical doctor alone as it does not respond to drugs, surgery or chemo as the causes are completely different. The conventional medical doctor will eventually have to be trained by the Institute of Functional Medicine  or the Functional Medicine University in order to handle chronic disease.

With the knowledge gained you can help yourself and family and friends and maybe go to your social club and show them and you will save by not having to go to doctors for the rest of your life. Absenteeism in business costs a fortune but and with the Functional Health Programs you can educate your employees on staying healthy. There is just no end to the benefits provided. Medical Doctors all over the world should obtain this information to better help their patients. It should also be available to universities and governments. Education is a key factor in healing chronic disease.
